Time: My Prayer Request

Early on the morning of December 30, 2020 my phone pinged to alert me to a message. Picking up my phone from the nightstand, I saw this cheery message:

Good morning dear sister! Please tell me how I can best pray for you this week?

Two decades have come and gone since I first moved to this community and met this sweet friend. Somewhere in that passage of time she has become a dear friend, prayer warrior and encourager. I pondered her message for most of the day then finally responded with

“Phew! Where do I even start?”

I boiled it down to two requests–one regarding an ongoing problem with insomnia, but the most important was this—

“A rekindled passion for the Word. I’m not making it the priority it should be in my life.”

My friend encouraged me to set some specific goals and offered to serve as my accountability sister. If I have learned anything about myself in my 63 trips around the sun, it’s that I fall short in the stick-to-itiveness department. Any goal setting that I do has to be short-term and well-defined to be successful.

As I worked on establishing some bite-size goals in five areas of my life, I realized that there was a common thread woven through each, tying one to another.

Time.

My prayer is that I will be faithful in using my gift of time to accomplish His purpose for me, for the Glory of God.

Today’s post was written to the word prompt “Time” as part of the Five Minute Friday community of writers.  Let me invite you to spend a little “time” reading the inspirational writing of other writers on the same topic at http://www.fiveminutefriday.com

I love sharing about my barefoot gardening adventures, hence my blogger name. As I write, some of my other passions might spill out -- like fun with grandkids, baking and sewing endeavors, what I'm studying in Scripture, and the like. My readers will notice that one of the primary things I write about is Alzheimer's. May what I write be an encouragement to anyone who is a caregiver for someone they love with memory loss.

  1. Cindie, I enjoyed reading your post. I, too, struggle to stay consistent in the Word. My word for 2021 is “steady,” for that very reason. Accountability partners are a great way to help.
