It’s been a lovely (albeit toasty) week. I’ve spent much of my free time playing in the dirt. There’s quite a lot in bloom right now, but I will stick to six photos of irises. They’re such intriguing flowers with a graceful beauty about them.

Six lovely irises—weathering our dry spell with grace and beauty.

“Spring drew on…and a greenness grew over those brown beds, which, freshening daily, suggested the thought that Hope traversed them at night, and left each morning brighter traces of her steps.”
Charlotte Brontë in Jane Eyre

I hope they make you smile too. Many thanks to Jim for hosting this weekly roundup of six things from gardens worldwide. Click here for a peek at what’s happening in his garden, then scroll down to his comments and start your journey of meandering through some very lovely garden spaces.

How beautiful! Your garden is full of lovely flowers that I’m not very familiar with. So I always look forward to these posts. You sure do take pains!

Thank you, Jaya! I sort of overdid in the garden yesterday, so those “pains” are catching up with me. Ha!

Ohoh! But you are able to laugh about them, which is another thing I love about you. 😊

Thanks, Pam. I just returned from a little trip to visit my two sweet aunts–one in West Virginia and the other in Ohio. They both welcomed me to take a digging of their irises. I just planted them in my garden yesterday and really hope they will flourish in my garden and be a sweet reminder in the years ahead of these two very special ladies. Have a blessed and beautiful Sunday.

I loved seeing your Iris. There are Iris in Florida, but they are just not the same! Walking Iris and they do walk. Weird to me still. I just figured out who you are – I see you on Facebook and just made the connection. Nice to meet you. Amelia.
