Itoh Peony Love

There is great joy in my heart and a smile on my face when I first spy the Itoh peonies opening. Itohs are a hybrid cross between tree peonies and herbaceous peonies. I love their sturdy stems that can stand up to heavy rains. This deep pink peony opened on Sunday.

This sunshine yellow peony unfurled the petals of her first flower today.

They both hold the promise of many more blooms yet to make their debut. Which color is your favorite?

I love sharing about my barefoot gardening adventures, hence my blogger name. As I write, some of my other passions might spill out -- like fun with grandkids, baking and sewing endeavors, what I'm studying in Scripture, and the like. My readers will notice that one of the primary things I write about is Alzheimer's. May what I write be an encouragement to anyone who is a caregiver for someone they love with memory loss.

    1. The open blooms last about a week. They look nice longer than the old-fashioned ones. The stems are sturdier and keep the blossoms erect with heavy rain.

The downside is that they don’t have the lovely fragrance of an old-fashioned peony.

    1. I just visited your incredibly beautiful blog. I love everything about it. My husband took German in high school (decades ago) and has dabbled with re-learning it, so I sent him a link to your blog. I think he’ll enjoy your English/German style of writing and will likely learn much.

      1. Dear Cindie
Thank you VERY much 🙏 🙏
We hope that our German is kind of perfect, as Kb was a professional writer and lecturer, but our English … We are all no native English speakers. Hanne-Dina is Norwegian, and Siri and Selma speak High Fairish with a Nordic accent.
        We feel honoured, thanks again
