I’m joining Cathy at Words and Herbs for her annual ‘A Week of Flowers’ meme. It’s Day #2 and I’m happy to take you on a little reminisce of some pretty spring and early summer days in my garden. Let me introduce you to a few of my favorite peonies.

My dad was known for the peonies he grew on both the east and west sides of our house on the corner of 106th and Stark in Milwaukee. Dad went Home to heaven back in 2008. My mother took up the trowel and tended his garden during his final battle with cancer. The gardening bug bit Momma (hard) and she continued gardening for several years more until 2015 when Alzheimer’s made it too difficult. It makes my heart happy to see a few of dad’s peonies growing in my garden–it brings back sweet memories of both of my parents.

Winter is here, but Spring will come!
Beautiful flowers full of good memories… what more can a gardener wish for? 😉 The yellow one is especially pretty, but I love them all! Great selection Cindie. Thanks for sharing!

This week of December ‘A Week of Flowers’ gives us an opportunity to remember. Thanks, a chara.
What a Paeonia display. 6 vowels in an 8 letter word. That must be unique. 🤔

Thanks! Yes, I have to think extra hard as I type out that word so as to make sure I get every vowel in the right order. Ha!
